Meanwhile, the Spanish Prime Minister announced that a state of emergency has been declared in Andalusia, Extremadura and Madrid due to the blackout, El Pais reports. The authorities of the country urged the population to refrain from traveling, use mobile phones only for short calls and avoid overloading emergency services.
The power outage led to a complete shutdown of the railway connection. The Ministry of Transport has warned that the restoration of the movement of medium and long-range trains on Monday is unlikely, writes the newspaper "Country".
As reported by EADaily, the reason for the blackout in Spain and Portugal has become a rare atmospheric phenomenon, it can last a week. This was stated by the Portuguese network operator REN, Sky News reports.
