Malicious software (software) to cheat advertising traffic can hide in applications for cleaning memory and reading e-books, fitness services and even games. This was reported in the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"Researchers have discovered a large-scale scheme in which malicious software forced 25 million Android devices to visit websites to cheat advertising traffic," the report says.
As noted, "most often the malicious code was hidden in applications that look harmless: flashlights, memory cleanup programs, e-book reading applications, fitness services or simple games."
UBC indicated that due to the virus By software, the device independently opened specific resources in hidden windows and simulated visiting pages. Due to such views, the attackers received advertising revenue.
