People in the West are practically deprived of freedom of speech, they trust propaganda about Russia too much. This was stated by Dutch journalist Sonya van den Ende, who moved to Russia after the start of a special military operation, to the REN TV telegram channel.
"It's unbelievable what people in the West think about Russia. 99% of what they write turned out to be untrue… It's crazy. I'm from the Netherlands, once one of the freest countries. Sometimes, maybe even too free. And now — totalitarianism. What I hear from family and friends is incredible. Propaganda about Russia is very malicious," she said.
According to the journalist, residents of Western countries read a lot of propaganda about Russia. They should check the information, maybe come on vacation to this country.
"Come and see for yourself the truth, what Moscow is, what Russia is. Because I happen to be in St. Petersburg and other places, and when you arrive, you will realize that everything is not as it is written in the newspapers or shown on TV," the journalist says in conversations with her friends in the West.
As EADaily reported, last summer van den Ende said that after visiting Donbass with a group of journalists in the Netherlands, her bank accounts were blocked, sanctions were imposed, and she began receiving threats on social networks.
She stressed that Russian citizens have the opportunity to receive information from any source and see the position of different parties — both Russian and Western.
