Numerous European sanctions have not worked, absolutely everything can be found in Moscow's shops, and soldiers are not walking around the streets, as Western media claim. This was stated by Dutch journalist Sonja van den Ende, who has been living in Of Russia.
An independent journalist from the Netherlands arrived in Moscow a week after the start of a special military operation on Ukraine. After her arrival, she was invited to visit Donbass with a group of journalists. In the Netherlands, after this trip, her bank accounts were blocked, sanctions were imposed, and she began receiving threats on social networks. Sonya van den Ende stayed in Moscow. To date, she has visited the SVO zone more than ten times, covering events in Russia and the Ukraine.
"The situation in Moscow is very good. Even with the existence of the European sanctions regime, I don't see any changes since I arrived here in 2022. You can find almost anything in the shops. So the sanctions did not work," RIA Novosti quotes the journalist.
She stressed that Russian citizens have the opportunity to receive information from any source and see the position of different sides — both Russian and Western.
"I move freely in Moscow, last year guests from the Netherlands came to me, who were surprised: "Wow, you can ride the subway freely, and there are no soldiers walking the streets here." It's about how the West sees the situation and what it inspires in people," van den Ende said.
What the Western media write about Russia is radically different from what can be seen directly in Moscow, she concluded.
