People's Artist of Russia, Hero of Labor, composer Alexander Zatsepin will celebrate his 100th birthday on March 10. In an interview with the KP portal.ru he explained why he returned to Russia from France in March 2022 — just then many cultural figures were leaving the country.

"I was born in Russia, our country is dear to me. The fact that people are leaving is their right," Zatsepin stressed.

At the same time, he believes that it is impossible to scold his country.

"You were born here, got an education, a profession, and most importantly, received recognition. And you have to be grateful for that," Zatsepin believes.

As a second reason to return to Zatsepin called Russia a desire to work.

"I met with Musa Lee (director and director of the musical theatre group MUZICO). She writes texts. We work well with her. Five musicals have been composed in a year and a half," the composer added.

As EADaily reported, in March last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Zatsepin the title of Hero of Labor. It was specified that the title was awarded for "special merits in the development of the national musical art and many years of fruitful creative activity."

"I invite you to my 100th anniversary in the Kremlin on March 10. Thank you very much for Your hard work. In wartime, you don't forget about people, you don't even forget about culture. Thank you very much," Zatsepin told the president during the award ceremony, which took place in the Kremlin on Russia Day.
