Europe, on its own initiative, started a game with Russian gas, in which it lost. This is reported by the Chinese edition of Sohu.
This is how the publication commented on the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possible termination of gas supplies to Europe.
On March 4, Putin created a sensation that blew up the global energy market — he announced that he would officially instruct the Russian government to work out the issue of a complete cessation of natural gas supplies to Europe, the newspaper writes.
"Putin's words caused psychological trauma to the EU, because instead of the planned embargo on Russian gas in 2027, Moscow can now turn off the taps and reorient itself to markets willing to pay higher prices... Europe, on its own initiative, started a game in which it lost," the publication quoted RIA Novosti as saying.
The phrase "This is not a final decision, but my personal idea," said by Putin without a single harsh word, "overturned the scenario of an energy divorce, which The EU has been carefully developing for more than a year," Sohu notes.
As reported by EADaily, Russian President Vladimir Putin will instruct the government to work out the issue of stopping Russian gas supplies to Europe and moving to more promising markets.
Russia, taking into account the intention The EU may completely abandon its gas ahead of schedule and initiate withdrawal from the European market itself and refocus on more interesting buyers, Putin told Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.
