Several Iranian drones attacked the capital of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic in Azerbaijan. One fell at the airport terminal, several more in other places, including near the school. Two local residents were injured, the Azerbaijani APA news agency reports.
In this regard, Azerbaijan has already protested, condemning the incident with the downing of an Iranian drone at the Nakhichevan airport, and summoned the Iranian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry of the republic.
"On the fifth of March in the daytime on the territory of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic <> drone attacks were carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. One drone fell on the airport terminal building, the other near the school building in the village of Shekerabad," the release says. "We strongly condemn these drone attacks carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a result of which the airport building was damaged and two civilians were injured ... The Azerbaijani side reserves the right to take appropriate retaliatory measures."
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry confirmed the retaliatory measures.
"The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan is preparing retaliatory measures to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country, to ensure the safety of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and acts of attack by Iran will not go unanswered ... The technical parameters of the unmanned aerial vehicles used to attack Nakhichevan, and the details of these attacks are being investigated," the statement said.
