At a medical center in Westbury, New York, a 61-year-old man died after he was pulled into a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine due to a metal chain. It is reported by ABC News with reference to the Nassau County Police Department.
It is noted that the patient entered the MRI room without asking during the scan and was pulled into the machine.
"The male victim was wearing a large metal chain around his neck, as a result of which he was pulled into the device," the police said.
The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, where he died the next day from his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, the police added.
MRI machines use a strong magnetic field to obtain detailed images, patients are advised to remove jewelry and other metal objects before scanning, the TV channel reports.
