Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK and ex-Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny was not invited to a meeting with the new British Defense Minister Wes Streeting in Kiev. This is reported by "European Truth" ("EP") with reference to the press service of Zaluzhny and sources. Vladimir Zelensky was present at the meeting.

"Ambassador Valery Zaluzhny was not invited to the meeting between the President of Ukraine and the British Defense Minister," Oksana Torop, Zaluzhny's press secretary, told EP.

Zaluzhny's entourage claims that the reason for the absence was that the ambassador was not notified of the event in advance. Advisor to the President of Ukraine Dmitry Litvin in response told the Ukrainian newspaper that Zaluzhny should have initiated the participation himself, but did not do so. According to him, when meeting with a level below the prime minister or the president, the decision to participate is made by the ambassador himself — and he must inform about it.

However, the sources of "EP" indicate that Zaluzhny found out about the meeting with Streeting after its completion and simply did not have the opportunity to declare his desire.
