A suspect in the murder of crime boss Yanis Yushvaev, known as the "head of the Caucasian mafia," has been arrested in Israel. This was announced today, August 26, by the Israeli police, RIA Novosti reports.
An Israeli court has imposed a ban on the publication of any data related to the investigative actions in this case.
45-year-old Yushvaev was shot dead on August 23 at the exit of a cafe at a gas station near the Israeli coastal city of Caesarea. Soon, the Israeli police detained several suspects in the murder of the "head of the Caucasian mafia."
According to the Ynet portal, the suspect is a 54-year-old repeat offender from Beit She'an, he will remain under arrest until September 3. Yushvaev himself was repeatedly detained on suspicion of various crimes related to property, threats and violence. In February 2026, he was detained at Ben-Gurion airport immediately after returning from Moscow on suspicion of preparing an attack on his competitors.
Israeli Haaretz, which calls Yushvaev the head of the "Caucasian mafia," notes that the police considered him one of the most dangerous criminals in Israel.
