Mass media: the first Briton who fought on the side of Russia died in Ukraine

In Ukraine, for the first time, the death of a British citizen who fought on the side of Russia was recorded. This is reported by the British media.

According to The Yorkshire Post, BBC News and The Guardian, a British citizen, a 33-year-old native of South Yorkshire, Bradley Townsend, was killed in the Donetsk region near the town of Liman. It is reported that the Briton allegedly participated in the conflict on Ukraine is on the side of Russia. Moreover, he died on July 10. British media write that he became the first dead British citizen who fought on the side of the Russian Federation.

It is reported that Townsend explained his decision to go to war on the side of Moscow by saying that he wanted to thank Russia for the fact that miners from Donbass in the 1980s supported striking miners from Yorkshire.

In turn, the British Foreign Office, commenting on the information about Townsend's death, said that trips to Ukraine for participation in hostilities or assistance to other participants in the war can be regarded as a violation of British laws.

"Upon your return to the UK, you may be held accountable," the British Foreign Ministry recalled.

Recall, the UK officially supports Ukraine by providing it with military and financial assistance. Earlier it was already known about the death of British citizens. All of them fought on the side of Ukraine.
