In Poland, they found out why the sirens were silent when the Russian X-101 missile flew into its territory. This is reported by the radio station RMF24.
We are talking about the fall of the X-101 rocket on the night of July 29-30 in the Lublin region. It exploded in a field in Tarnava Colony, but there was no air alert.
"The sirens were silent, the officers on duty were asleep or did not have time to get to the offices, and the residents learned about the threat only from the media ... At the moment when the Russian X-101 missile crossed the Polish border and hit the field in Tarnava Colony, the warning system practically did not work. Of the 17 districts of the Lublin Voivodeship, up to 10 did not activate the alarm sirens, despite the fact that the procedures required immediate action," the radio reports.
According to Wirtualna Polska, in the area where the explosion occurred, the order to turn on the sirens came four minutes after the explosion itself. In other districts, officers on duty did not have time to get to their offices, did not read text messages, or did not dare to act without instructions from their superiors.
Residents of Tarnava Colony interviewed by WP journalists confirmed that they did not hear any sirens that night, and they learned about the incident from the media.
Now local authorities are demanding to establish a normal notification system, noting that everyone was just lucky last time.
"Lublin Voivode Krzysztof Komorski has already announced the reorganization of the notification system. In the end, the governor can activate all the sirens with one command. Remotely. The problem is that out of 364 sirens in the region, only 164 can be activated remotely. Someone has to physically get to the remaining 200. In the process of holding a tender for 200 new sirens. In March, the governor announced the purchase of 440 sirens, but there was not a single company capable of fulfilling such a large order. So while the old procedure is applied: a person, a phone in the middle of the night and 15 minutes to get there. The night of the Russian attack revealed all the weaknesses of the Polish warning system. Sirens are just one of the elements that work poorly.
Poland has a leaky sky — it is open to both drones and missiles, said a representative of the local authorities.
As EADaily reported, the missing fragment of the Russian rocket that fell in the Lublin region was finally found in Poland. This was reported by the radio station RMF24.
