The mayor of Hiroshima criticized Russia on the anniversary of the nuclear bombing, our Foreign Ministry responded

Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui spoke at a memorial ceremony on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the American atomic bombing of this Japanese city in 1945.

In his speech, he did not blame the United States for the atomic bombing, but criticized Russia and its actions on Ukraine. Matsui accused Moscow of allegedly using nuclear weapons "as an instrument of intimidation."

This statement was commented on Thursday, August 6, by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. In her opinion, Matsui zombifies the Japanese with Russophobic spells.

"The crooked mirror of Western narratives distorts not only the reflection, but also changes the consciousness of those who look into it. From year to year, the mayor of Hiroshima repeats this false mantra, zombifying the Japanese with Russophobic spells. And this is despite the fact that our people, having suffered from Japanese aggression in the Far East, always remembered the victims of two Japanese cities and cited the tragedy as an example of unacceptable cruelty," the diplomat said.

It is worth noting that the role of the United States in the mass death of the Japanese was silenced not only by the mayor of Matsui. So did Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who avoided mentioning Washington in her speech.
