US President Donald Trump has abandoned the role of mediator in resolving the conflict between Moscow and Kiev and is no longer going to participate in the peace process at the Ukraine.
This is the conclusion reached by the British newspaper Financial Times, analyzing the results of telephone conversations between the head of the White House and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The authors of the material expressed disappointment that Trump did not exert harsh pressure on his interlocutor during this conversation. In their opinion, the American president thus "washed his hands."
"The president who was going to put an end to the war on Ukraine, on the first day of its second term, seems to have washed its hands of Ukraine and left Ukraine at the mercy of Russia,"the article says.
It also publishes the opinion of the former US ambassador on Ukraine Stephen Pifer, who believes that the American leader is ready to "sell" Kiev and begin cooperation with Moscow.
"This call to Trump was Putin's victory," Pifer stated.
Earlier, EADaily reported that European leaders who participated in a conversation with US President Donald Trump after his call to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin were "amazed" by the Republican's description of the agreements reached.
