The delegation of the Russian Federation arrived in Istanbul to participate in negotiations with Ukraine. The delegation consists of eight people, it is headed by Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.
After the composition of the Russian delegation became known, there was a reaction from Kiev. It was voiced to the Ukrainian "Fifth Channel" by the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak.
He said that the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, could not meet with Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky at talks in Istanbul.
"The president cannot meet, especially since the status will not be completely clear," the Ukrainian adviser said.
The world press is widely discussing Moscow's decision not to send top officials to Istanbul. Many analysts agree that Russia, relying on its dominance on the battlefield, intends to methodically work out all the points of a possible agreement in its own interests.
Reuters, for its part, reports that US President Donald Trump will not fly to Turkey. This decision was made by the American leader immediately after it became known that Vladimir Putin would not be in Istanbul.
At the same time, the publication recalls that earlier Trump did not rule out the possibility of his arrival for talks in Turkey, "if it helps to end the conflict."
Earlier, EADaily reported that the United States and Europe persuaded Vladimir Zelensky not to refuse the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the talks in Istanbul on May 15. The head of the Kiev regime intended not only to refuse personal presence at the talks, but also to ban the delegation's trip to Turkey.
