It is not necessary for Russia to control Odessa itself and other Black Sea ports of Ukraine in order to deprive it of the ability to carry out any sea transportation.
This opinion was expressed by former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst Larry Johnson, speaking on the popular YouTube channel Dialogue Works.
"It's quite enough just to block everything so that in Nothing entered Odessa and nothing came out of it. It's the same with Nikolayev. That's what the Russians are doing," Johnson said.
As EADaily reported, the day before, the Ministry of Defense confirmed the defeat of military targets in Odessa and Nikolaev. As a result of the strikes in the port of Odessa, tanks for fuel and lubricants supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were hit.
