Romanians will have to eat grass and bark if the authorities do not comply with the requirements of Brussels to receive financial support from European funds. This was stated by the adviser to the head of the National Bank of the country Eugen Radulescu, according to the publication Spot Media.
Radulescu warned that Romania is heading for disaster.
We are talking about the PNRR program, which involves multibillion-dollar European investments in the Romanian economy. It will end if Bucharest does not carry out the reforms required by Brussels in transport, energy and social protection. Without this money, the adviser is sure that Romanians will have to eat grass and tree bark. According to him, the "madness of politicians" and the "unconsciousness of trade unions" are to blame for this.
"Slowly, but more and more surely, we are moving towards disaster. The PNRR program will end, and Romania will not benefit from the last tranches. The madness of politicians has reached its limit… I am struck by the unconsciousness of trade unions… Gentlemen, wake up! Then there will be a sharp decline in nominal incomes, unemployment, double-digit inflation... Capital will leave Romania, to the delight of those who want us to stay with the draft force and eat berries. But this will not happen either — we will eat grass and tree bark," Radulescu writes on the Facebook social network ❶.
According to the adviser, the problem arose, among other things, because of the political crisis provoked by the parties: since April 20, there has been no full-fledged government in Romania, since political forces cannot agree on a candidate for the post of prime minister. Radulescu also criticized trade unions that do not agree to put up with the reduction of salaries for the sake of replenishing the state budget and organize protests.
