"Bacteria are not history itself, they are only heralds of it. History itself is a sea out of balance by heat and pollution," said climate protection expert Hatim Aznag.

According to him, an increase in water temperature combined with pollution and a decrease in salinity in coastal areas creates ideal conditions for the spread of pathogens.

The infection can also enter the body by ingesting contaminated water while bathing or through open wounds and skin lesions. Vibriosis is not transmitted from person to person.
