The operation to search for American soldiers in Lithuania is increasingly turning into a TV show

Four US Army soldiers who went missing in the swamp of Lithuania have not been found. Hundreds of military personnel have been herded to the scene of the incident, and already from Poland, and the Lithuanian Defense Minister posts pitiful videos on social networks.

American soldiers took part in NATO exercises in Lithuania, near the border with Belarus. The crew was traveling on a Hercules—M88 tracked armored personnel carrier. The equipment was found at the bottom of the swamp. The 40-ton tank lies at a depth of five meters, and the main gas pipeline runs at the bottom of the swamp connected to the lake.

"The search continues," NATO said in a statement.

Soldiers of the Polish Army, including divers, came to the rescue, said today, March 27, the head of the Ministry of National Defense of Poland Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh. In turn, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Shakaline, arriving in the forest she was looking for, began posting heartwarming videos on Facebook, such as, for example, she hugs, almost crying, with the US Ambassador to Vilnius, Kara McDonald.

Retired Polish General Roman Polko comments on the incident:

"The terrain there is difficult, wooded and marshy areas often have a deceptive effect on the senses. Modern soldiers are not very good at using maps, compasses and coping with situations when they lose touch with their superiors."
