Washington raised the issue of the possibility of disabling Elon Musk's Starlink satellite Internet systems on Ukraine in case of refusal of Kiev from the deal on minerals.
This is reported by Reuters, citing its own competent sources. According to their information, such a threat was voiced during negotiations between the United States and Ukraine after the head of the Kiev regime Zelensky rejected the initial proposal of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Later, this topic was raised again during Zelensky's meeting with US presidential special envoy Keith Kellogg on February 20. He threatened an "imminent" shutdown of the service if an agreement on minerals was not reached.
"Ukraine is working on Starlink. They consider him their north star. The loss of Starlink ... it would be a huge blow," stated the source of the publication.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Italy plans to develop its own system of low-orbit satellites for government communications as an alternative to Elon Musk's Starlink system.
