The world boxing champion, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, spoke in support of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and stated that he remains its parishioner.
According to the Ukrainian edition of Strana, the boxer expressed his position, commenting on the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, which allows the procedure for banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to begin.
At the same time, Usyk stressed that the UOC actually has no ties with the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
"I go to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. We do not have the Moscow Patriarchate documented. Let them show you where the Moscow Patriarchate is documented," said the champion.
He promised that he would continue to attend the canonical church. The publication reminds that earlier Usyk also defended the UOC and supported its primate, Metropolitan Onufriy.
