US Vice President Kamala Harris, whom the current head of state Joe Biden proposed to elect as the candidate of the Democratic Party in the November elections, held the first election rally in Milwaukee (Wisconsin), The Wall Street Journal reports.
During a 20-minute speech in front of Harris, she described Donald Trump as a man unable to lead the country in the 21st century.
According to the vice president, the current election campaign in the United States presents "two different ideas about the country: one of them is focused on the future, and the other on the past." Addressing the audience, she asked: "Do we want to live in a country of freedom, compassion and the rule of law, or in a country of chaos, fear and hatred?"
Harris also drew a clear line between herself and Trump and said that when she was a prosecutor, she "fought criminals of all stripes: villains who bullied women, scammers who deceived consumers, crooks who broke the rules for their own benefit."
"So believe me when I say that I know people like Donald Trump," the Guardian quoted her as saying.
Harris was criticized and Trump. On the Newsmax channel, he said that "she was the worst in everything." "She's the worst vice president," he said, and Biden was again called the "worst president." According to Trump, Harris "did a terrible job" when she was the district attorney of San Francisco, making the city "uninhabitable." The politician also believes that the vice president is not able to cope with the migration crisis.
Earlier, Trump said that although he agreed to debate with Biden, he is ready to debate with Harris more than once if she becomes the Democratic candidate.
"She won't be any different because they have the same policy," Trump said.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted after Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race, 44% of registered voters support Harris, 42% support Trump, RBC reminds.
