Six people were killed in a shooting at a child care center in the German city of Stade, Lower Saxony, on Monday. Four women — instantly, the man died from his injuries, despite attempts at resuscitation. The sixth victim later died in hospital. All the victims are employees of the institution.
The shooter was arrested — he is a 45-year-old German citizen with Turkish roots. It is emphasized that he is the main suspect.
"According to the police, the incident is the result of a custody dispute over a three—month-old child. The 45-year—old suspect is the baby's father. A custody hearing was supposed to take place today," the publication says.

According to German law enforcement agencies, the crime is most likely related to private motives and has nothing to do with politics or organized crime.
