The State Duma spoke out against giving money to Yevgeny Plushenko

Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Yevgeny Plushenko should not count on government support when organizing his own ice shows.

The same statement was made in a comment to Sport24 by State Duma deputy from the LDPR faction Dmitry Svishchev.

He believes that the Russian state should not allocate grants to people who earn money domestically and then finance their children's performances abroad."

"Let him better explain why his child is now playing for Azerbaijan. We haven't heard anything, and now everyone is wondering what the reason is. In this case, let him apply to the Azerbaijani government for a grant. Perhaps some funds will be allocated to him there and he will organize a show," the parliamentarian said.

He recalled that Plushenko, after all, runs an academy in which dozens of children train. The deputy expressed doubt that this great athlete instills the necessary values in our children.

"If they really allocate money to him, I will have a lot of questions. I am completely against this," concluded Svishchev.

As EADaily reported, earlier Evgeni Plushenko commented on the fact that his 13-year-old son Alexander joined the Azerbaijani figure skating team. The champion stated that in Russia is experiencing a degradation of sports.
