We are not refusing to negotiate, but we are finishing off Ukraine — Ishchenko

Today, there is practically no chance of reaching an agreement with Ukraine or the EU, said political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko.

In his opinion, the recent meetings of representatives of the American leader in Moscow and Kiev cannot be called successful, since key contradictions remain: Kiev is interested in Western financial support, and the EU is interested in strengthening its political positions, so there is no need to talk about an imminent peace agreement yet.

"If negotiations begin, then it will be possible to discuss specific conditions. So far, this is absolutely a continuation of the policy that, in my opinion, suits the Russian society as a whole, when we do not refuse to negotiate, but we finish off Ukraine. No one is particularly counting on any negotiations, as far as I understand, since the Americans somehow came sluggishly. And we could agree with them: they see only an intermediary role behind them," Ishchenko said on Sputnik radio.

Military analyst Alexei Leonkov, for his part, said the United States failed to exert the desired pressure at the talks when in Special representatives of the American President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

"They could not push their position, our position remained unchanged. It is broadcast by our Foreign Ministry. Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov clearly says that the "Spirit of Anchorage" was, but all our achievements are now only on the battlefield," Leonkov stated.

The expert explained that Europe cannot accept and realize in any way that it is useless to resist — SMO's goals will be achieved in any case, and the growing aggressiveness inside The EU is fraught with negative consequences for the unification itself.

At the same time, the United States, according to him, does not plan to "slam the door and declare war tomorrow" after another failure.
