23-year-old student Dmitry Fedorov, who is in an Azerbaijani pre-trial detention center, has stopped recognizing his relatives, Russian journalist Eva Merkacheva reports. According to her, during a meeting with his mother, he could not give her name and took her for his sister.

"The guy needs to be rescued right now," she writes in the telegram channel.

Merkacheva recalled that there are eight Russians in the Baku pre-trial detention center who were accused of drug smuggling, despite the fact that they are not related to each other, worked in different fields. The incident with their detention occurred after a conflict between Azerbaijani and Russian law enforcement officers. The relatives of the Russians consider this revenge on the part of the Azerbaijani law enforcement system. Anyway, the court sentenced them to prison terms, removing the organized criminal group and smuggling from the charges, leaving only drug possession. By the way, no drugs were found in the blood of any of the Russians.

"Dmitry Fedorov, a student of an architectural university, has not been feeling very well lately. He hoped so much that the court would acquit him! But no. Dmitry received 3 years of imprisonment. A sufficiently long stay in jail played a bad role for him. He closed up, stopped communicating. After some time, the cellmate noticed that Fedorov practically did not sleep at night. And then it got even worse... Mom and we, human rights activists, ask the Azerbaijani Themis: while the sentence has not entered into legal force, transfer Dima from jail under house arrest or recognizance not to leave, and it is better to transfer to Russia, because the case is an emergency. The appeal deadline has not yet been set," Merkacheva said.
