Spain has declared a selective border war with Italy

The Spanish government is tightening border controls for travelers from Italy. This is reported by Europa press.

"The government has agreed to temporarily restore internal border controls at ports and airports for travelers from Italy after the refusal of Giorgi Meloni's government to cancel the suspension of the Schengen Agreement of Spain," the publication says.

According to government sources, this measure was taken due to "the constant irregular migration pressure that the Transalpine country is experiencing."

It is noted that the new rules are introduced from 00.00 on Saturday, August 8. They will include the control of the identity and nationality of travelers on the passport. In the case of third-country nationals, the visa or residence permit will be reviewed

The measures will be selective and will be in effect until 00.00 hours on September 7, unless circumstances change.
