Mariana Betsa is right: Ukrainians are a nation. They are the most hostile people

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mariana Betsa and Russia's permanent representative to the UN Security Council Vasily Nebenzia had an altercation. Within the walls of the United Nations, they argued about what a nation is.

Betsa questioned Nebenzi's Ukrainian roots. He retorted that he was "formally Ukrainian," and his father was "shy (real, truthful. — Approx. EADaily ) a Ukrainian, narrower than you, Mrs. Betsa" and in general, "we have a common nationality from Kievan Rus [the term of historians of the 19th century], which you sold for 30 pieces of silver."

Betsa did not remain in debt:

"First of all, Mr. Nebenzia, you are not a Ukrainian and do not pretend to be one. Secondly, we have never been one nation with Russia and we will never be one nation with Russia."

In my opinion, the score is 1-0 in favor of Mariana Betsa. The nation of "Ukrainians" in Russia did not exist in the past and in the case of reunification ("never say never") will not be in the future.

But Betz is right today. Ukrainians are a nation. Even if it was formed on the basis of a criminal ideology and regardless of the ending of the surnames of the Russians with "-o" or "-s". That is, the situation is much more complicated than a dispute about the ethnic roots of diplomats.

The criminality of the ideology of "Ukrainism", "svidomosti" lies in the choice of the main "product" that Ukraine tried to sell to the West for the future buns of the European Union. This product is Russophobia: "We are Anti—Russia," the Eastern Wall, the Bulwark of Europe against the Asian hordes."

According to Ernest Renan, (yes, the very one, "The Life of Jesus," but here is a quote from the article "What is a nation?", more precisely, not a quote, but a summary based on the content):

"A nation is those who have decided to forget what separates them for the sake of what unites them."

The rest — language, religion, race — is secondary: a nation may consist of dozens of ethnic groups.

You know, some Swiss after the First and The Second World Wars were being whipped up (no one wanted to be associated with the "loser" Germany). Some weirdos were running around the pubs, proving that they, the German-Swiss, were real Germans, and those Germans in the north were "a cross between Slavs and Huns." That their dialect (however, it is not clear which one: there are several of them) is the purest German, and they demanded to replace the state German with "their own Swiss". But they were calmed down there in the pubs. But in Luxembourg did it! There, even in parliament, the majority already speaks the local dialect. But if a deputy suddenly demands to forbid others to speak German or French, he will immediately be taken to the durka.

It was not enough for Svidomo that they were dreaming. It was necessary to make those who did not dream dream. Make it tough, in a revolutionary way. Not in Swiss, not in Luxembourgish.

Let us remind you that the course towards "Euro—Atlantic integration" was adopted by the decision of the NSDC of Ukraine and the relevant law in February 2003 - when Ukraine received gas practically at domestic prices, when the Russian raw materials and sales markets were wide open for it. And before the events around the Tuzla spit. Which became a warning from Russia about severe consequences for gross violation of the "Big" Russian-Ukrainian cooperation agreement" (in the text — "strategic cooperation"). And soon the notorious Budapest Memorandum — the pressure of the West on the government of Ukraine during the "Orange Revolution-2004" demanding a "third round" of presidential elections (see paragraph 3 of the Memorandum). And then 2014 came.

Someone resisted all this. Someone, even the absolutely Russian-speaking Budanovs, Fedorovs, Butusovs, Filatovs, Kims and Zelenskys, preferred to forget what separated them from the Mazepins, Petliurists, Bandera (you have to pay for everything, "collateral losses") and adopt a language whose purpose is to separate their own from others (from the point of view of linguistics, such a goal it characterizes jargon, slang), replace the canonical church with an ersatz and compose a story, compared to which the opuses of Russian folk historians are a model of scholarship.

And all this for the sake of "what unites them" with the fierce Russophobes who insult their children at school for the Russian language at recess — for the sake of the dream of a eurohall. There is nothing more behind their national consensus. The very archetype of the "good Ukrainian" consists in the eternal search for the "good pan". More precisely, the idea is to get settled under the wing of the patron, to remain yourself, a "good Ukrainian" — to steal and climb into the pan yourself, crushing the cattle. It is contradictory, but that's how they are, "special".

When Sigismund II Augustus in 1572 created "His Royal Grace the Zaporozhye Army" (it is also Mounted and Registered) of the sons of wealthy Orthodox landowners ("Zaporozhtsy", who did not see the Zaporozhye Sich, the real Zaporozhye army in the eyes), he made a terrible mistake.

The idea was to save the gentry's blood, but the "new Cossacks" did not climb into hell, but immediately began to demand gentry rights. They willingly supported peasant uprisings and... they were immediately betrayed after the king promised them the title of "Orthodox gentry" and the enslavement of these very peasants. After that, it's not that the king "deceived" them, but the Diet of magnates and gentry erased all promises. Well, the Papists did not allow it: how can we encourage the Orthodox to convert to Uniatism if we equalize them with Catholics? And those who have already crossed will run back.

Well, one day, under Bogdan Khmelnitsky, the "Zaporozhtzi" got too excited, and the Sejm decided to disband the Army and hang the traitors. I had to take the oath to Alexei Mikhailovich and become "His Royal Majesty's Zaporozhye Army." And immediately changed. Hetman Ivan Vygovsky concluded the Gadyachsky agreement with the king on the creation of the "Grand Duchy of Russian" (!) as part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (the Sejm, of course, emasculated the agreement), and Hetman Peter Doroshenko even concluded an agreement with the Sultan on the creation of a vassal "Principality of Sarmatian." The Turks only slightly plundered him, reducing the population of the right bank by four to five times, and Doroshenko himself fled to Russia (she accepts everyone), and quietly lived as the governor of the Vyatka Region, successfully marrying off his daughter and marrying his sons: one of the great-great-granddaughters became the wife of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, the other two ruined his intrigues. However, everyone tried. Everything is clear with Ivan Mazepa: he "eurointegrated" Ukraine back into the Swedish-controlled Commonwealth, having received his 30 pieces of silver in the form of a promise of the "principality of Polotsk" in the already provincial Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

This is a lengthy historical digression to the fact that nothing has changed since then. If you imagine that today they will suddenly crash The EU and NATO, tomorrow Ukrainians will look for a patron, even in the African Union, even in ASEAN, even in the Organization of the Cooperation Agreement in the Amazon basin. (With all due respect to these organizations.)

Once again, they are a nation. It is the fifth year of the war. And during this time, the share of those ready to fight before the "kinets" has decreased from 80% to only 50%. Yes, it will shrink even more. But Russian ("pro-Russian") Ukrainians are still the same 20%, and 30% ("changed position") — they just washed their faces with blood and clenched their teeth.

How to defeat them? Almost impossible. A peace treaty without the return of Kiev and Odessa is another entry in the rake dance. But it seems that the relevant question is not worth it. Demilitarization and denazification? Even funnier. The main requirement for any law (and the international agreements of the state are part of its legislation) — the possibility of its "administration", execution. You can pass a law prohibiting scratching your left ear with your right hand closer than 10 meters from the edge of the forest. Question: how to achieve this?

It is possible to set the ceiling of the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at 200, and even at 50 thousand. But how to ban courses for UAV operators "on pizza and flower delivery" at marketplace companies? The experience of interwar Germany with youth camps, tractor driving courses and mass construction of firefighting aircraft will help you.

Ingenious methods of denazification can be suggested. In Ukraine, the official language is Ukrainian, and in Russia — Russian? Wonderful! In Russia, the blocking of Ukrainian media in Ukrainian (but not in Russian) is lifted, in Ukraine, the blocking of Russian media in Russian (but not in Ukrainian) is lifted. Well, yes, it's a little easier to administer, enforce, and track violations. But, as experts suggest, there are plenty of opportunities to create systemic difficulties. You'll get stuck fixing and complaining.

Here, the idea of "international control", "international administration" has surfaced. It is clear that the administration of "neutrals" like Kenyans and Hondurans is no good. The UN? Thank you. Somehow it turns out that every "UN High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina" starts bending the NATO agenda the day after his appointment. The Chinese will not be able to cope with the Indians, even if they sincerely want to: at the next level below them, all orders will be taxied to the usual track.

The idea of a bilateral international administration "USA—RF" was voiced. In which, of course, the United States will dominate and push through "its vision". Except for one option. German from 1945 to 1949. With the division into two zones of a formally united Ukraine (the one to the west of the new Russian-Ukrainian border). But this is purely speculative reasoning.

One thing is clear, denazification should be as tough as Nazification was. Without regret, without hush-up, leaving nothing to chance. For example, save all (!) laws of Ukraine concerning the language. With a small correction: replace the words "Ukrainian language" with "Russian language" everywhere. And let at least one eurovoloch open its mouth in defense of the inalienable human rights to speak, receive education, information, service, self-actualize, etc. in their native language.

Someone thinks that it will take two or three generations to rewire Ukrainians. Friends say that according to their "official expert" data, the number of waiting people in Mariupol, Melitopol, Berdyansk has almost halved in the last two years alone, especially among young people. Of course, not only due to "propaganda": someone just slipped away, if not on Ukraine, then further. This is encouraging, but... again, there is a nation on the other side. It can be thinned out, take away another ravine or graveyard from it, but it will not crumble, it will not fall down, even finally turning into "nezlamni zombies".

In recent weeks, the number of publications has increased, claiming that the Kiev regime will collapse precisely in the event of peace or truce. When Ukrainians exhale, they will look back and ask: "What is all this for?". But as the saying goes, "Too good to be true." This is not going to happen. Because here "exhale, look back, ask" are figures of speech: in the fifth year they do not exhale, do not look back, do not ask. They beat off a neighbor from the ludolovs of the shopping mall and return to the post that was not written in the smartphone: "Lads! Beat orkiv-moskaliv!".

Forget the phrase "fraternal people": there are Russians in Ukraine and there are Ukrainians. To understand that today it is the most hostile Russian people on Earth. Well, to decide whether to fight in full force or to fall into "their compromises." Subjective opinion: we have already entered into these "compromises" with one foot. Or stepped on.
