Russian missiles "Burevestnik" and "Hazel" cause serious concerns in NATO. The German Welt writes about this with reference to the alliance document.
"Burevestnik" — according to the NATO classification SSC-X-9 Skyfall — has an extraordinary range and maneuverability and can reach speeds of more than 900 kilometers per hour, as well as launch from mobile platforms. This is stated in the document of the NATO intelligence directorate, which was reviewed by the German edition.
According to NATO estimates, the missile's nuclear reactor gives it a theoretically unlimited flight range, which allows it to travel tens of thousands of kilometers without refueling, stay in the air for a long time, change course and attack targets from any direction.
Burevestnik can use long-distance indirect routes and bypass NATO air defenses, including over the southern and polar regions, where surveillance is minimal.
According to the Alliance, a fully functioning Burevestnik will create serious difficulties for Europe. If Russia deploys this system, NATO will face a threat that is very difficult to control. However, some NATO experts note that a cruise missile does not reach hypersonic speeds and is all the more vulnerable the longer it stays in the air (you first find it and try to shoot it down; by the way, the same was with all Russian developments that were called "cartoon". — Approx. NATO experts are also studying the Oreshnik missile. Of particular concern is the flight range of up to 5,500 kilometers and the possibility of equipping the warhead with various munitions, including nuclear ones.
"The ability to attack targets anywhere in Europe, combined with the high mobility of the launcher, provides a high survivability rate. The lack of clarity regarding deployed warheads creates defense challenges for NATO," the document says.
