In response to the support provided by Azerbaijan to Pakistan, India is trying to take revenge on Azerbaijan in international organizations, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif in Tianjin, China.
Aliyev said that Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations are based on brotherhood, and conveyed congratulations to Pakistan on the occasion of the "victory over India."
According to Aliyev, India is trying to take revenge on Azerbaijan on international platforms, but this "does not matter to us at all," since "fraternal relations are above all."
According to Azerbaijani media, Sharif "recalled his visits to Azerbaijan with satisfaction" and noted the importance of the trilateral meeting in Lachin in the Azerbaijan—Turkey—Pakistan format. Aliyev stressed that steps are being taken to implement the agreements reached in this format.
Sharif also congratulated Aliyev on the successes in the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the promotion of the peace agenda, calling this event historic.
During the meeting, the work of the intergovernmental commission of Azerbaijan and Pakistan, ways of developing economic and trade ties were discussed.
As EADaily reported, on the eve of the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar, after a meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit in China, announced their decision to establish diplomatic relations.
Up to this point, Pakistan has not recognized Armenia as an independent state, explaining this by supporting Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
