The administration of US President Donald Trump ordered the burning of almost 500 tons of cookies bought under Joe Biden, which was intended for children from Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is reported by the American magazine Atlantic, citing sources.
At one time, the Agency for International Development (USAID) spent about 800 thousand dollars on cookies, which are stored in a warehouse in Dubai. After the suspension of the agency's work, its employees asked to approve the supply of this food, but received no response. In the meantime, the cookies are running out of shelf life.
"The Trump administration ordered the burning of food instead of sending it to people in need abroad… This food, which was intended for children in Afghanistan and In Pakistan, it will turn into ashes," the publication says.
According to the Atlantic, these cookies are enough to feed about 1.5 million children for a week.
"The cost of food destruction will amount to 130 thousand dollars from the funds of American taxpayers," the publication points out.
It should be noted that Atlantic is a democratic resource and has always had a very negative attitude towards Donald Trump.
