Kyrgyzstan is a multinational state. However, there is no one in its parliament except the Kyrgyz. This statement was made by deputy Gulya Kozhokulova, reports IA 24.kg .
According to the agency, this was said during the discussion of the draft law providing for amendments to some legislative acts on the use of the state language, which, according to the parliamentarian, contradicts the Constitution. According to Kozhokulova, prohibitions and restrictions cannot solve the problem of using the Kyrgyz language.
"We need to be integrated into the overall process. We don't live on a desert island or on another planet. We are all interconnected, and linguistic diversity, multilingualism is the driving force. The question about the president is the first person. That's right. The deputies are people's deputies. And so there is not a single Russian in this parliament. There used to be Koreans. We have a multinational state. When we say that only a citizen with a certain knowledge of the Kyrgyz language will be able to enter the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament — approx. EADaily). Can you imagine how people's deputies will come to parliament? We will limit them," the agency quotes the people's deputy.
In one of the previous answers to the question about how the situation with the study of the Kyrgyz language is developing, the chairman of the National Commission for the State Language and Language Policy Melis Murataliev stressed that favorable conditions are currently being created for the study of the Kyrgyz language by representatives of various ethnic groups.
"I think in the future the requirement to know the state language will become commonplace. For a candidate who aims to come to one of the significant branches of government, it will not be a problem to learn the language," he said.
Within the framework of the meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial and Legal Issues and Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh, the draft constitutional law "On Amendments to some Constitutional Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the use of the state language" is being considered. The draft is being discussed in the first reading.
In accordance with the proposed draft law, in order to hold the position of deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, member of the Cabinet of Ministers or head of another executive authority, as well as to be a judge, prosecutor or investigator, it is necessary to speak the state language at the level established by regulatory acts of the Cabinet of Ministers. This requirement also applies to employees of the National Bank.
