President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin refused to discuss the peace plan proposed by the Americans for Ukraine, which was presented by the special envoy of the US President Steven Witkoff.
According to the Financial Times (FT), citing its own sources, the plan provided for a list of measures for a peaceful settlement of 22 points. It was compiled following negotiations between representatives of the United States, Ukraine and Europe.
According to the agency, the document provided for a cease-fire. As a bonus, Moscow was promised that Ukraine would not become a member of NATO. However, Moscow was not interested in this plan.
"Senior Russian officials have informed Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy, that Putin does not want to discuss the 22—point peace plan that Witkoff has developed with the participation of Ukraine and Europe," the material says.
The publication emphasizes that this position of the Russian leader forced Witkoff to postpone a new meeting with him. However, other American media claim that Witkoff's second meeting with Putin was not originally planned. This became known from sources familiar with the plans of the US special Representative.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Russia at the talks in Istanbul put forward tough conditions for a ceasefire for Ukraine. Among them is the recognition of the loss of Crimea and four other regions.
