At the talks in Istanbul, Russia put forward tough conditions for a ceasefire for Ukraine. It is reported by UNIAN with reference to Bloomberg.
According to sources, the Russian side outlined six conditions for a cease-fire:
- neutral status of Ukraine;
- a complete ban on the deployment of foreign troops and weapons of mass destruction;
- refusal of demands for war reparations from Russia;
- recognition of the loss of Crimea and four other regions;
- withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the occupied territories and their transfer to the control of the Russian Federation;
- international recognition of all five regions as part of Russia.
Only if these conditions are met, Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to consider a ceasefire option, Bloomberg sources say.
As reported by EADaily, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Russia had put forward new demands in Istanbul. This was reported by RBC — Ukraine with reference to the official representative of the department Georgy Tikhy.
