In 2025, as told in the press service of "Sber", telephone fraudsters began to practice fundamentally new schemes of deceiving Russians. Now the attackers are sending victims for loans to microfinance organizations and are increasingly trying to influence citizens through offline channels.
"According to Sber, telephone fraudsters have been implementing deception schemes since the beginning of 2025, in which Russians are sent for loans to microfinance organizations (MFIs)," the press service informs. Sberbank.
The transition to offline occurs due to the strengthening of anti-fraud systems in the banking sector.
"The effectiveness of the anti-fraud system of Sbera has reached 99.9%, other large banks also pay great attention to protecting their customers. Thus, the attackers focus their efforts on schemes with the theft of cash and valuables, and also force victims to apply to MFIs for loans,"the bank added.
Fraudsters use MFIs due to the ease of obtaining funds, although usually the amount of embezzlement is noticeably less. At the same time, "if a person manages to be completely financially "depleted", while the victim is still under strong influence, attackers can force an attack on MFIs in order to rob and further transfer money to fraudsters."
