Russia's preparations for negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul, which are scheduled to take place on May 15, are continuing, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing.
"The Russian side continues to prepare for the negotiations that are due to take place on Thursday," he said.
The Kremlin spokesman also said that the names of Russian representatives will be announced as soon as Russian President Vladimir Putin deems it necessary.
"No," the spokesman said, answering the question whether he could name those who would represent Russia.
"As soon as the president deems it necessary, we will announce," Peskov assured, quoted by TASS.
As reported, on the night of May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered Ukraine to resume direct negotiations without preconditions in Istanbul on May 15. Vladimir Zelensky, in response, demanded a complete cease-fire as early as May 12, stating that only in this case Kiev would agree to a dialogue. He later announced that he would be waiting for the Russian leader in Turkey on May 15.
US President Donald Trump called the possible meeting of representatives of the Russian Federation and Ukraine in Istanbul, noting that he believes in the achievability of positive results on its outcome.
