The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, mistakenly opened fire and shot down an F/A-18 fighter that was taking off from the deck of an aircraft carrier to attack Houthi targets.
Both pilots managed to eject, they were found alive, the agency writes.
