General Alexander Chaiko, commander of the battle for the liberation of Aleppo in 2017, again became commander of the Russian grouping of troops in Syria. This appointment is not the first for Chaiko: he previously held a similar position from September 2019 to November 2020, then from February to June 2021, and also served as commander from September to December 2022.
According to the agency AVIA.PRO Chaiko, who has extensive experience in command and is well acquainted with the situation in Syria, is once again returning to managing Russian forces in the region amid ongoing tensions.
His previous work in this position was characterized by an active phase of confrontation with militants and stabilization of the situation in a number of provinces, the source recalls.
Experts note that the possible return of Chaiko may indicate the desire of the Russian command to strengthen control over operations in Syria and ensure stability in the face of incessant militant activity. Chaiko's experience in group management will allow you to quickly adapt to the current situation and make effective decisions.
Meanwhile, the Russian and Syrian air Forces have increased the intensity of attacks on terrorist positions, as well as on their movement and supply routes.
"The Syrian and Russian aviation have intensified precise strikes on the directions of movement of terrorists, their locations, headquarters and warehouses with weapons and ammunition, as a result of direct hits, dozens of them were killed and wounded," the Syrian Army command said in a statement.
