The experience of the USSR was enough: why did Russia change the strategy of supporting other countries?

"Russia has betrayed Syria, Iran, Venezuela," some resources and not only Western ones write. Such assessments do not stand up to criticism, the observer points out Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.

Ideally, Russia's relations with other countries should be such that business relations remain at the same level under any government. Ideological motives (anti-Western) for supporting governments are important, but they are no longer decisive, we must resolutely get rid of the attitudes that led to the fulfillment of the "international duty" in Afghanistan and Angola. In many ways, it was precisely because of the support of friendly countries, when oil revenues declined sharply, that the Soviet Union broke down and collapsed. Priorities were set incorrectly, and no one paid debts from the former "fraternal" capitals — with rare exceptions (India, Turkey, Jordan, UAE)

Recent events suggest that the interests of their country have become more important to the Russian leadership than the support of foreign governments. Moreover, under the conditions of sanctions, it is almost impossible to implement it effectively. In addition, corrupt politicians in the elites of "strategic partners" do not need accounts in rubles and a house in Kamchatka or Sochi. They need the coasts of Florida and California, the Cote d'Azur, the education of children and citizenship in England.

Bashar Assad's entourage betrayed their ideas of "preserving a secular pan-Arab state," and Nicolas Maduro's entourage betrayed the Bolivarian Republic of Socialism of the 21st century. So does it make sense for Russia to go all out to support these ideological corpses? If the "Maduro team" loses on its own field with a score of 32: 0 (and this is only the Cuban guard), then what kind of betrayal of Russia can be appealed to? Look for traitors at home. Where is the announcement of the Venezuelan government about the investigation into the reasons for the kidnapping of Maduro? There are none. The head of security was dismissed (!), and that's all.

On the contrary, acting President Delcy Rodriguez began the process of releasing "political prisoners" (in Venezuela they are imprisoned under criminal articles) in order to "establish a dialogue with the Trump administration." President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko released such people from a position of strength, and here it looks like a betrayal of Maduro personally.

In Iran, Russia made claims that, they say, it did not help in the war with Israel, but somehow modestly kept silent about the fact that they refused to help create an air defense system themselves, and the investigation into the death of ex-President Ibrahim Raisi looks biased. If the Mossad feels in If Iran is at ease organizing large-scale subversive operations (like an attack by drones on air defense before the 12-day war or the recent bloody riots), then who can I complain about? If you can't protect yourself, then neither Russia, or even the Lord God himself, will not help you.

Iran, however, resisted, and in this case, please count on help. Russia will continue to supply advanced weapons (including Su-35 fighters and air defense systems) and invest in the North—South corridor.

It is impossible to conduct three full-fledged military operations at the same time (Ukraine, Syria, Venezuela). Russia's goal is to preserve its influence and strategic bases, and not to preserve specific personalities at any cost. Russia will continue to support structures alternative to US dominance, even if the forms of this support change from direct military to diplomatic and economic. One support in the UN Security Council with the right of veto is worth a lot.

Examples can already be given. Russia has retained key military facilities (Tartus and Khmeimim), having agreed with the new Syrian authorities.

Argentina, it would seem, fell under the United States completely, voting for political reasons against Russia and refusing to join the BRICS. But Russia remains its recognized "comprehensive strategic partner." Argentina continues to import from Fertilizers, oil products and paper for Russia, exporting meat, fruits, cheeses and nuts in return. The rules of visa-free entry for up to 90 days are still in force for Russian citizens, which supports the tourist and business flow. The economic crisis forced President Javier Miley to put ideology on the back burner in order to maintain access to markets for agricultural products.

In Moscow today, people are no more stupid in power. If in Venezuela will retain the presence of Russian oil companies, then this will be a strategic success. It is not necessary to support the aggressive actions of the United States, but it is also necessary to tear your shirt because of their successes.

Whatever government comes to power in Iran, if the North-South corridor is stable, even the Shah will not give up on it.
