Law enforcement agencies of Moldova have stopped the activities of a criminal group from Gagauzia, which organized illegal entry into the country of Ukrainians evading conscription for money. The group of 10 people also included two border guards who helped illegal migrants cross the border.

For their services, the organizers of the illegal migration scheme charged from 6 to 8 thousand euros per person. The cost included the organization of the stay and illegal departure of draft dodgers from Moldova to the EU. In the case, more than 20 searches were conducted at the places of residence and in the cars of the suspects. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine took part in them.

At the end of last week, ten cases of illegal border crossing were recorded at once. Four attempts to cross the border without legal grounds were registered in the area of responsibility of the border guards from Kopchak. Eight Ukrainians of military age were detained there. Four more cases occurred near the Vulcanesti checkpoint. Mobile patrols detained six Ukrainians who illegally entered Moldova. Five more Ukrainian citizens were spotted by border guards from Chishmikioya and Valya Perzhey. All the "ukhilants" have requested asylum in Moldova.

Recall, the legislation of the Republic of Moldova assumes that if a person — legally or not — found himself on the territory of Although the Republic of Moldova requests asylum, the Moldovan authorities do not have the right to extradite him to another country before accepting a negative conclusion.

As reported by EADaily, earlier Kiev said that it does not understand on what basis Ukrainian citizens who violated the draft law there receive temporary protection in Moldova, and those who were denied it continue to stay there.
