"Since Russia is not under pressure on the battlefield, it is difficult for me to imagine that Putin would agree to be sent to Ukraine of British, German, French or Danish troops," says Mathisen.

He stressed that if Moscow opposes the European forces on the To Ukraine, sending the European contingent will involve completely different risks:

"If Russia does not agree, it will be a so-called peacekeeping mission. This means that, if necessary, they will have to engage in combat with Russian troops, and I just can't imagine any of the European countries being ready for this," concluded Mathisen.
