Western countries will have to lift their anti-Russian sanctions in the event of a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, answering journalists' questions after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Riyadh. The broadcast of the speech was conducted by American news broadcasters.
He was asked about the restrictions imposed against Moscow.
"All this is the result of this conflict [in Ukraine]. There are sanctions that were imposed as a result of this conflict. Therefore, I would like to say that in order to end any conflict, it is necessary that all parties make concessions," the head of the State Department noted.
"There are other parties that have imposed sanctions. The European Union will have to sit down at the negotiating table at some point, because they also have sanctions that have been imposed [against Russia]," Rubio added.
