US President Donald Trump expressed disappointment that Ukraine has not used the opportunities to resolve the conflict with Russia over the past three years.
"I hear that they (the Ukrainian authorities) are unhappy that they were not invited (to the talks). But they had three years to sit down at the negotiating table. It could have been settled back then," Trump said, speaking at his residence in Mar-a-Lago.
He also stressed that he was "disappointed", and the settlement could have been achieved without Ukraine's territorial losses a few years ago if even a "mediocre negotiator" had led the process.
"It was possible to conclude a deal that would preserve almost the entire territory of Ukraine, without destruction, without loss of life, and also without destroyed cities," Trump said.
