The city of Pirmasens in Germany has stopped accepting Ukrainian refugees due to their excessive influx, the Foxus publication reports, citing local authorities. In the city, the level of reception of Ukrainian refugees in July exceeded 82.6%. Because of this, a "threatening overload of urban society" has developed in the city.

At the same time, the authorities named several conditions for admission — their housing or activities that provide the necessary means of subsistence. According to the city administration, since February 2022, almost 900 people from Ukraine have entered Pirmazens.

In June, the European Union extended until 2026 the operation of a special mechanism for the reception of Ukrainian refugees. They receive temporary protection and enjoy the same rights throughout the EU — they receive medical and social assistance, access to education for children and to the labor market for adults.

According to Eurostat, by the end of April, 4.2 million refugees from the territory of Ukraine received temporary protection in the EU countries.

A third of the refugees are in Germany — the country has received about 1.3 million Ukrainians. At the end of May, the German Interior Ministry advocated the introduction of an even distribution of new refugees across the territory of the European Union. Earlier, since March, part of the German federal states advocated compulsory work for refugees. The authorities have repeatedly noted that large benefits hinder employment, RBC reminds.
