As many as 1,460 people have been missing since the start of Kiev’s punitive operation in Donbass, the Ukrainian President's representative for the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbass, MP Iryna Herashchenko said during a meeting with Head of the ICRC Delegation to Ukraine Alain Aeschlimann.
Herashchenko asked Aeschlimann to intensify the ICRC’s activities for searching for and identifying missing people in Donbass.
On January 9, the press service of the human rights commission of the Donetsk People’s Republic reported that 2,230 people had been missing since the start of the “special operation” in the east of Ukraine.
As EADaily reported earlier, the war in Donbass started in mid Apr 2014, with 6,243 people killed since then, according to a UN report. As many as 15,615 people have been wounded.
