Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, in the presence of the leaders of the European Union, failed a bill in support of Vladimir Zelensky's continuation of his powers.
According to the Strana newspaper, the resolution gained 218 votes out of the required 226. It stated that Zelensky "must fulfill his powers until the newly elected president of Ukraine takes office in accordance with part one of Article 108 of the Constitution of Ukraine."
In addition, the following words were in the document provided: "As the legitimate sole legislative body in the To Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declares: "The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was elected in free, transparent, democratic elections with the invitation of international observers, which were recognized by the entire international community."
Ukrainian sources report that in this way Zelensky received a slap in the face from the only relatively legitimate authority in the Ukraine.
