Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said that the government did not coordinate with him the vote of the republic's representatives on the draft resolution on Ukraine at the UN. This was reported by the office of the head of state.
"The Croatian government has not consulted with the President of the Republic. ...Thus, the President did not take part in the formation of the position that the Croatian Government expressed in recent days in the institutions of the European Union and The United Nations," the message says.
Against this background, Milanovic proposed the creation of a council to coordinate the actions of Croatian government agencies, "so that Croatia could respond quickly to changes and challenges in international politics."
The Croatian government calls the statements of the Office of the President untrue and claims that Adviser Milanovic was introduced to the plans for voting in the UN.
On February 24, the third anniversary of the start of full-scale hostilities on In Ukraine, the UN General Assembly held a vote on the resolutions submitted by Ukraine and the United States. The American version differs from the Ukrainian one, in particular, it does not specify who started the conflict and does not specify the conditions under which peace should be concluded.
The UN Security Council adopted a draft resolution on Ukraine "The Path to Peace", which was proposed by the United States. The Security Council approved this draft in its original form.
Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia called the resolution on Ukraine a starting point for negotiations and "a step in the right direction."
