Composer and producer Konstantin Meladze secretly obtained Georgian citizenship. This is the producer's second new passport after the Ukrainian one received in 2024, the Mash telegram channel reports.
According to the laws of Georgia, a citizen of the country cannot have two passports — the old one must be discarded, the publication notes. There are exceptions, but it must be approved by the President of Georgia.
"But Konstantin Meladze has not received official approval from Mikhail Kavelashvili. This means that the musician most likely renounced the Ukrainian identity card," the telegram channel claims.
As EADaily reported, in October 2024, Meladze changed his passport to Ukrainian. In the process of obtaining a Ukrainian passport, Meladze lost his patronymic Shotovich. In Ukraine, they refused to indicate the patronymic in the documents, considering it a relic of the Soviet past.
