Ukrainian security officers have detained Volodymyr Ruban, the head of the Officers' Corps center for prisoner exchange, who was engaged in negotiations with representatives of the Donbass republics for release of captives.
According to strana.ru, the negotiator was detained on Thursday at a checkpoint in Donbas and taken to a detention facility in Mariupol. The website published handcuffed Ruban’s photo and video footage of his detention near arsenal of weapons and ammunition. Strana.ru published statements by Ukrainian volunteers saying the negotiator was detained by Ukraine’s Security Service and military counterintelligence officers.
It is worth mentioning that Ruban had been negotiating on the side of Ukraine for exchange of captives since the beginning of the war in Donbass – since the spring of 2014.
