The attack of Ukrainian drones on Moscow, launched by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, which began at midnight, became one of the largest in 2026. This is evidenced by the data of the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

In particular, since the beginning of the day, he announced the elimination by the air defense forces of 60 drones flying to the capital. Up to this point, the largest number — 81 UAVs — were shot down in the first half of the day on May 17. A day earlier, on May 16, the air defense forces destroyed 38 drones, another 61 enemy UAVs were shot down on May 7, TASS points out.

Also, according to Sobyanin, 65 drones were shot down on March 14 this year, 54 more on March 15, and 42 drones in nine hours from 02.00 to 11.00 on March 16.

According to official statistics, in 2025, on March 11, Sobyanin reported that "the most massive attack of enemy UAVs on Moscow was repulsed," then, according to him, "74 UAVs were shot down on approach to Moscow, hundreds of combat UAVs were shot down at different borders in general." Also, 55 drones flying to the capital were eliminated on May 5-7, 2025. Another similar attack was observed in September — 46 UAVs were destroyed in the sky over the Moscow region on September 22-23.

As EADaily reported, the facility of the Moscow Oil Refinery (Gazpromneft-MNPZ JSC) was damaged as a result of the ongoing drone attack on Moscow, Sobyanin indicated earlier today. This is one of the largest enterprises in Russia, it is located in the Kapotnya district. Its refining capacity is 11 million tons of oil per year. The plant provides about 40% of the Moscow fuel market and 70% of the needs of the Moscow region in gasoline and jet fuel.
